History

A new Affiliation has been signed between Ecole des Arts Ghassan Yammine and the Prestigious Birmingham University, UK, for the following faculties and departments: Music, Composition, Singing, Conducting, Film Music, Music Technology, Music Production, Sound Engineering, Acting, Film Production, Painting, and Photography.

The official ceremony took place at the office of Birmingham University’s Vice-President.

a 6th branch was opened in Hamra – Beirut, with new departments (for the 1st time in Lebanon): the “Musical Theater” and the “Music Therapy”, in addition to “Ghassan Yammine School of Modern Music”, “Body & Mind”, “Photography”.

a new international affiliation has been concluded between the Dance Department and “Linda Faoro’s Traveling Dance School

the “Ecole Normale Superieure de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot” opened a piano master class in EDAGY for advanced students, with the French pianist Veronique Bonnecaze as a tutor.

a new affiliation agreement was signed with the National Conservatory of Lyon in France: joint diplomas will be issued to EDAGY students (Music, Dance and Theater).

the Photography department was created in all branches.

the Lebanese President General Michel Suleiman made a tribute to Ghassan Yammine at the Presidential Palace in Baabda.

Ghassan Yammine received the French Gold Medal of Honor for the Arts in Paris.

an agreement has been concluded with ICM – Paris for a new service: “Music Lessons at Home”.

Ghassan Yammine received the National Order of the Cedar – Knight Grade from the Lebanese President, General Emile Lahoud.

a new branch has been opened on Gazir highway (Keserwan) with 2 departments: Music and Painting.

Mr. Ghassan Yammine has been elected as a member of the FFEM board (French Federation of Music Institutions).

a 4th branch was opened in the “Palais des Congrès” in Dbayeh with 3 new departments: Music Technology, Painting and “Actor’s School”.

an agreement has been concluded with Carnegie Hall, New York (Master Class and Workshops).

EDAGY received from “Association des Amis d’Antonio Ruiz-Pipo” France, the personal library (about 800 music books and scores) of the famous French pianist and composer: Ruiz-Pipo, died in 1997.

a third branch was opened in Jal-El-Dib, 5km north of Beirut.

EDAGY begins a collaboration with Ecole Normale Supérieure de Musique de Paris, which is offering full scholarship to EDAGY students to continue their studies in Ecole Normale.

EDAGY signs a protocol of collaboration with the prestigious “Conservatoire de Boulogne-Billancourt,” which is considered one of the three top conservatories in France.

EDAGY was selected to become the first music institution from the Arab countries that adheres to the AEC (Association Européenne des Conservatoires supérieurs, academies de musique et musikhochulen).

EDAGY became member of the FFEM (Fédération Française de l’Enseignement Musical) as the first non-European institution.

EDAGY became the official representative of Waleed Howrani in Lebanon and the Arab countries.

EDAGY included three departments:
• Classical music department
• Modern music department
• Oriental Music Department

a second branch was founded in the heart of Beirut, in Sodeco.

Ghassan Yammine- pianist and composer founded Ecole de Musique Ghassan Yamine- Lebanon (EDAGY). Its first branch is in Beit Chabab, in the northern outskirts of Beirut.
