Linda Faoro’s mission is to bring her different dance techniques, refined over these several years, to Ghassan Yammine Arts School. She will be coming to Lebanon during intensive masterclasses and she will create with the dance instructors team a real educational link throughout the year.
Multi-faceted dancer-choreographer, Linda Faoro will bring you a well-rounded teaching style, concentrating on a rigorous academic approach to dance. She also advocates opening to different dance styles and therefore allows the dancer full freedom of expression and the ability to meet any choreographic requirements he or she may encounter.
Jazz New School Class
“After receiving my diploma as a jazz dance teacher in 1996, I quickly developped my own style which I named Jazz New School.
This style is based on a rigorous, academic jazz technique whose source, let’s not forget, is ballet, then was born from a mix with modern dance, african dance, latin dance, tap…
But Jazz New School, in addition to accenting these technical foundations, finds its originality in a subtle fusion of different dance styles ( modern / hip–hop / afro / belly dance…), livened up by modern music evolving constantly, thus always digging deeper into new styles.
I want a dance that is never stagnant…” (Linda Faoro)
FaoroBellyFusion Class
It’s the logical evolution of my alternative journey in Jazz New School – a style based on an academic and rigorous Jazz technique but drawing its originality from a subtle fusion of other various styles of dance (modern / hip-hop/afro / bellydance …), inspired by today’s music, an increasingly rich mix of styles – and in belly dance.
My interest in the new musical fusions constantly pushes me to refine this mix.
My wish is to share the oriental dance in its pure form as much as in its transcended form influenced by new musical currents . Therefore I wish to establish a new choreography style.
My work is mainly based on listening to the body and looking for different qualities of movements that we experience when we dance, as well as the ability to express different “states” in order to “feel” one’s whole body and develop a freedom in dance …
FaoroBellyFusion Class with “an extra-focus on Afro / Hip-Hop influences”
This style is a subtle fusion of Oriental, Afro and Hip-Hop mouvements where isolations and dissociations are also found but are practiced with different kinds of energy and quality. We explore various sensations : slow motion, suspension, precise movements or blasts of energy…wave, poppin, footfloor, boogaloo, figure 8, shimmies, worm, ripple, jerky-inside-outside movements…
Hip-Hop Class
A style that has changed dramatically in the last 30 years and that is essential in perfecting a dancer’s education. A joyful dance, but also a rebellious dance, it allows one to develop raw energy, all while finding it’s subtleties. There are many categories, from break dance to popping, from locking, to new style, to house dance…
Oriental Egyptian FaoroStyle Class
“ Linda Faoro’s teaching is based on the ethics and the respect of Egyptian dance (arabesque turns, isolations, layering, drum solos, using props…). Her training in Ballet enriches and gives her a unique style. This class allows the dancers to be really aware of their lines to obtain a refined style, a dance with lightness, subtlety and grace …
Also, beyond the technical work one cannot escape, Linda Faoro advocates a dance where the mind and body are connected so that belly dance transcends us … for in its beginning, this dance coming from Egypt was sacred … “
